… Like Pie Has Delicious!

May 10th, 2009

So a couple weeks back I believe Ken was talking about VIRALITY. And he was speaking about how somebody had chopped up a bunch of youtube hits and made a video. Well below is video of some producers that I follow making a beat for the “Kings of Youtube” song. In the actual music video, there are some pieces of different youtube videos as well as re-enactments. I will also post the “Kings of Youtube” video below as well. I hope you enjoy. I think their both pretty dope.

Now That’s TUBE-DE-DO!

Catch Me If You Can

May 9th, 2009

So I just got done watching this movie call “Catch Me If You Can”. I had seen bits and pieces of it before but today I finally saw the end. If you haven’t seen it it’s about a con artists who lived several different lives. At the end, after he is arrested and in prison, the FBI offer Frank Abagnale Jr a job after he had stolen millions of dollars and slipped the FBI several times. This movie just reminded of how different companies hire hackers. Also how other government agencies hire ex-gang leaders or mafia members to help fight crime. I think this is really dope. It takes someone extremely intelligent to hack into different things. It’s good that companies recognize this and hire these type of people to help secure their systems. Honestly, I wanted to be a hacker after I first saw the movie “Hackers” but I realized the consequences and gave that up.

World Star Hip Hop

May 8th, 2009

Worldstarhiphop.com is a website that I check daily. They claim to be the “CNN of Urban Media”. It allows me to see exclusive music videos and a lot of videos that have potential to become viral. I see alot of things before my friends. It also has a Chat room that while I’m currently typing this has about 2100 people in it. I never really have been the one to chat but I’m recently enjoyed going in there and using random names to mess with people. I’ve used SteveUrkel from “Family Matters” and Quagmire from “Family Guy” and said things that they’d say. I find people’s reactions hilarious.

Tweet Tweet

May 8th, 2009

Rockin’ Robin Tweet Tweet…lol.
So I got a twitter, but haven’t tweeted yet. What should I tweet on? I “follow” a few people though I’m really not following them and a few people are following me though I don’t tweet. Everything about Twitter just sounds so gay. I can’t imagine running into one of my friends like, “What’s up bro? I read your “tweet”. A couple of times that I actually went on to twitter it didn’t even work. It said something like “There are too many tweets right now, try later.” I guess I’m not much of a Tweep.

Facebook & Old People (Creepy Right?)

March 29th, 2009

Yeah so a couple of weeks ago I received a message on Facebook from some random person. Automatically, I asked myself how has Facebook allow themselves to become a site where you can receive spam. I mean, I looked at the name of the person and did not recognize the name off top of my head and the subject line of the message was: Your Father. lol. So Immediately, I’m like “WTF? My Father? Yep. Not falling for that s***!” But I proceed to read the message anyway. It said: “I spent time in Vietnam in the late 60s and was wondering if you and your father have the same name. If so and he remembers let him have my email address ———— I would like to say hello.” Being that my dad was in the Air Force and we share the same name, I asked my mama, to ask my daddy if he knew this guy from when he was in Vietnam. Turns out he did. I guess this shows how anyone being able to join Facebook is good to re-establish lost connections.

Open Social

March 26th, 2009

Yo! I haven’t wrote a blog in a minute. In this one, I’d like to give my opinion on “open social”. Personally, I think it’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of. I think it would be cool as an option but if this is what they are pushing for we ARE DOOMed. I’m not the type of person that is paranoid with “big brother” trying to know everything about me, but DAMN it seems like with an “open social” we’d be handing over our souls. I don’t know maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m just anti-social. Plus, what about celebrities? Would they control their own? What if they have a stage name? Would companies that accept the “open social” be able to use information of celebrities to promote their site? Also, What if your identity is stolen? Wouldn’t you have to start all of your accounts tied into your “open social” over again? Yep! Sucks!

Expectations

February 9th, 2009

I’m not really sure about what I expect from the class. It has already been a different experience. I guess I expect to learn about the future of the web and how to capitalize off of it via social networks.

Hey, Hello, Hi, What’s Up, What’s Good, What It Is, What It Ia (Whatever you prefer)

I am Farley Fite, II. I’m from a small town called Mexia (Ma-hey-a), Texas. I am a senior MIS major. Yeah… I really don’t know what to write… I guess… Oh um I like long walks on the beach, watching the sunset… J/K just a joke. I enjoy listening to and making music, watching movies, hooping, and thinking about life. You should checkout some music: www.myspace.com/farleyfite or www.soundclick.com/farleyfite

I like myspace better than facebook because you have more control over how you want to express yourself. I think facebook only allowing 2 apps on your profile is wack. It would be nice to be able to get a better feel of a person’s personality on facebook versus all profiles basically looking the same. I also don’t like the idea of recruiting or advertising through facebook because some people lie or joke around on their profile.

My opinion is that facebook has become a cliché marketing tool. Honestly, I get more promotions for events and parties then I do messages or wall comments from my friends. I feel that facebook is so flooded that I might actually miss something important. I don’t know maybe. Maybe it’s just me.

And I’m out…
